Chancellor: Germany to create sufficient gas infrastructure mid-23

BERLIN, Aug 12 (PRIME) -- Germany will create sufficient infrastructure to meet gas demand in mid-2023, although at higher prices, Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on Friday.

He said that Germany plans to build liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals along the northern shore, pipelines in order to start importing gas from the U.K. The country is also extending the existent capacities.

In order to save gas during the coming winter season, Germany is considering prolonging the use of three nuclear power plants past December 31, 2022, Scholz also said.
